Output control

Before the coil is shipped from the manufacturing plant, a thorough exit inspection is performed. All measurements and parameters are recorded in an "Output Report".

The final control mechanism

The output inspection of the coil is the final control mechanism before the coil is sent back to the customer. The following activities are part of the output control:

Optical inspection

The coil is first subjected to a thorough optical inspection. We pay attention to the appearance of the erasure, the uniformity and aesthetics of the installation of the insulation bandages, the integrity and homogeneity of the insulation lining, checking the cleanliness and evenness of the connection points.

The Predefined coil measurements

The next step is the predefined coil measurements. We measure the erasure thickness, the internal diameter of the coil including the grouting in the area of the lower turns and the upper cooling turns. We check the outer diameter and the height of the coil to see if it has changed during the refurbishment. The spacers defining the thread spacing are also measured. We ensure the correct position of all current and water connections.

Before installation of the new refractory lining of the coil we proceed on detailed control of insulation conditions of dielectric coating of the coil in its full profile by high voltage testing equipment. The insulation state of the coil coating is measured by a voltage equal to the standard operating voltage of the coil.

The pressure test

The pressure test is performed as an additional testing before the coil is shipped. We pressurize the coil to twice the maximum operating pressure, which is around 8- 10 Bar for 8- 10 hours.

To wrap the coil

The final task is to wrap the coil. The coil is clamped into a transport pallet with sufficient load capacity to prevent vibration of the coil during transport and excessive shocks damaging the installed grouting. Wrapping the coil in a protective packaging tarp that insulates the coil from moisture and dust while allowing the coil to "breathe" is the final step in the entire induction melting coil remanufacture.
