Repair of coil fixing and fixing (fixing beams, epoxy layer)

All joints on the coil are most affected by the negative effects of vibration. They must be thoroughly inspected and then repaired.

- BV COILS

Enormous vibration of the coil

Insufficient retraction of the coil inside the induction furnace will cause enormous vibration of the coil and its subsequent mechanical damage. The intensity of the vibration is determined by the power and frequency of the melting equipment. During refurbishment, we focus on these critical areas that are most exposed to the negative effects of vibration.

A critical place

A critical place on compact coils that is usually damaged by vibration is at the connection of the coil and the fixing posts. These connections are formed by special non-magnetic screws that are part of the coil on one side and screw into the beams on the other. Stressed connections must first be dismantled and carefully inspected. Non-conforming bolts which show signs of vibration damage are repaired, if possible, with a strengthening weld, or replaced. In the event of damage to the beam, it is repaired or completely replaced.

Fixing epoxy layer

In the case of coils without posts - folded - banded coils, the fixing epoxy layer suffers the most from vibrations. The epoxy layer can be repaired by removing the damaged areas, sanding the surrounding epoxy layer, cleaning, and applying a new strengthening layer. If the damage is too extensive, the epoxy should be removed, and a new strengthening layer applied. On the fixing epoxy layer, we install ventilation holes or entire channels to ensure that water and moisture are drained from the furnace.

The next step in repairing the coil is to impregnate the dielectric and thermal insulation.
