The Flow of the cooling medium
During operation of the melting system, the internal profile of the coil may become filled with incrustation or rust deposits, which adversely affects the flow of the cooling medium through the coil turns.
Hydraulic resistance of the coil
Increasing hydraulic resistance of the coil results in increased cooling costs and can lead to failure. In the event of a power failure, the cooling of the coil is provided only by the flow of water from the water main or by an emergency pump. In both cases, the required coolant flow is reduced to the very limit of the coil's cooling capacity. In the case of high hydraulic resistance, the cooling medium may not be forced into all turns of the coil with different hydraulic resistance, and this may cause overheating and burning.
Reduction of the coolant flow in the coil, its poor cooling results in a reduction of the coil lifespan, and an increase in the cost of operation of the melting system.
The cleaning of the coil inner profile
The cleaning of the coil inner profile is done by AQES. The turns of the induction coil are formed into a closed circuit. Using a specialized cleaning chemical and a cleaning machine, the profile is cleaned of deposits and buildup. The concentration of the cleaning chemical is continuously measured and adjusted to the prescribed level. When the concentration has stabilized, a flush is carried out to prevent disturbance of the copper profile. During cleaning, the hydraulic resistance in each section of the coil is also being checked by a flow test.
The next step of the refurbishment is to repair the mounting and fixing of the coil (fixing beams, epoxy layer).
