Installation of coil refractory

A smooth, crack-free surface of the refractory concrete together with conical shaping is a prerequisite for safe and economical operation of the melting plant.

Coil protection

The furnace coil is protected from its own melting by an intense stream of cooling water that flows inside the copper profile. The sprue and the grout covering the coil form the induction heating point of the furnace. The physical principles of electrical induction require that the layers of refractory and refractory lining/grouting be as thin as possible between the induction coil and the metal bath. At the same time, they must be thick enough to fully protect the coil and prevent the penetration of liquid metal. In the event of a failure in the integrity of the discharge, the erasure is the last protection of the coil from liquid metal, scorching, and possible explosion caused by water-molten metal contact.

The ensure the safe operation of the furnace

To ensure the safe operation of the furnace, a thorough inspection and monitoring of the condition of the discharge must be carried out at each discharge change. Any defects found must be carefully treated and removed. The removal of the dross is usually carried out by a hydraulic extruder which squeezes the dross out of the furnace.

During the extrusion process, enormous mechanical forces are exerted on the furnace crucible, the refractory and the coil itself.

Quality of the refractory discharge

A key role in the pushing process is played by the quality of the refractory discharge. The surface must be free of cracks, bulges, and bumps. The conical shape of the erasure from the lower to the upper cooling coils of the coil is a prerequisite for extrusion.

We pay the utmost attention to the installation of the reinforced concrete lining. To ensure the cone and the desired thickness of the grouting, we install an application former in the coil that defines its dimensions.

The grouting is dried and further heated according to the prescribed heating curve before the coil is shipped to the customer. The next step of coil repair is the Output Check.
